Why do we need to have health insurance in order to apply for an investor visa or an investor authorization?

• In this case, since the investor and his relatives are not going to carry out any type of work activity in Spain, it is mandatory to provide this medical insurance.
• It must be health insurance in which we have coverage equal to that we have in Social Security. That is, the hospitalization is covered and there is no copayment.
Therefore, it would be medical insurance where we have all the coverage in the event of any type of illness or accident.
• Medical insurance must be valid or must be contracted for the entire period of residence in Spain, that is, for the entire time that we are going to live in the country.
• On the other hand, it is true that all health insurance expires, normally as of December 31, but it can be extended every year.
• In this case, it would be both mandatory at the time of the request, as well as at the time of renewal of that authorization as an investor.
• So yes, for this type of authorization it is absolutely mandatory to provide such medical insurance.
• In addition, at the time of renewal, we will have to justify that we continue with that health coverage provided by private health insurance.
